Psycho is an American 1960 psychological horror film. It was directed and produced by the notorious Alfred Hitchcock who worked on this film with a budget of $806,947 and the film made $50 million making it a huge success still to this day. The duration of the first few minutes of Psycho just shows a young couple in a dark hotel room discussing the uncertainty of their future together. There is dialogue, but other than that there are not many glimpses of what the plot will further entail. A wide angle shot is used for the duration of the time and close ups of the couple's faces. Psycho went on to be nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting role, Academy Awards for Best Director, Writer Guild of America Award for Best Writing, Satellite Award for Best Classic DVD, Best Black and White Cinematography, and Best Written American Drama. Psycho ended up winning Best Motion Picture, Best Actor (Anthony Perkins), and Golden Globe for Best Actress (Janet Leigh).
