Research- The Others

The Others is a 2001 American psychological horror film directed by Alejandro Amenabar. He worked with a budget of $17 million and the movie ended up making $209.9 million making it a booming success. The introduction to the movie just stages the setting. The opening scene shows a mansion located in a remote area of the countryside. The grounds surrounding it are foggy and dark. Then the camera shows a woman sleeping peacefully then abruptly waking up from presumably a nightmare with a startling scream. The camera uses long distance shots to show the property and the manor, and then goes close up to the woman's face while she's sleeping. The Others went on to be nominated for an extensive number of awards, but won the Saturn Award for Best Actress (Nicole Kidman), Best Supporting Actress (Fionnula Flanagan), and Best Horror Film.
